That 1% difference

A big HELLO from the newest member of the Demeter Fertility family!!

An IVF cycle is a little like air travel, you buy your ticket, walk through the doors and relinquish all control to the team at the helm. You take your seat and hope that the team behind the closed doors is having a good day and that you’ll get to your destination safely.

Sit back and relax! Embryologists take their responsibilities very seriously, we are aware every minute of every day that we may hold the key to that child you have dreamed about.

Essential to the desired outcome are the little things. By little things I don’t just mean the eggs and the sperm, I mean the things we can all do to contribute to the best egg and the best outcome. Embryologists are all too aware that little things in their everyday lives can contribute to that 1% difference. We never wear perfume or nail polish. You will find us in the deodorant aisle at the supermarket trying to determine if no fragrance really means no fragrance. We avoid most hair products (and we do wear hats anyway!). We will never wash our coffee cups before checking your embryos, Sorry team!.  We air out all our disposals used in the laboratory, we never take cardboard into the laboratory and we obsess about the smallest, tiniest details.

While the little things may contribute only a miniscule difference in the eventual outcome, it may be that 1% makes all the difference in a couples life and that couple could be you.
