Demeter Fertility uses Lipiodol flushing in conjunction with IVF to maximise the chances of pregnancy as demonstrated in a number of studies and papers.
Lipiodol IVF utilises an additional technique of Lipiodol Flushing to clear out the fallopian tubes prior to the IVF cycle. Studies have shown that Lipiodol flushing can increase pregnancy rates by up to 37%. It is also believed to have an immunological benefit to the uterus giving the embryo a better chance to survive.
Demeter Fertility regularly performs Lipiodol flushing in conjunction with IVF procedures with high success rates. It is a technique particularly used in women who have:
- Unexplained subfertility
- Undergone previous unsuccessful IVF treatment cycles
The Lipiodol flushing takes place prior to the IVF cycle and involves a catheter being inserted into the uterus to allow the Lipiodol to flush through it and into the fallopian tubes. It is performed with painkillers or alternatively may be performed under local anaesthetic. It is a safe and well-tolerated procedure.
A number of studies and papers have been published supporting the use of Lipiodol including article in the New England Journal of Medicine in April 2017.
