Dr Alex Chen

Dr Alex is passionate about delivering optimal care through shared decision-making and excellent communication as a Specialist Obstetrician, Gynaecologist, Colposcopist and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon.

Dr Alex fell in love with obstetrics as a medical student when he had the privilege of birthing his first patient in a small rural town with a population of only 2000 where each birth was a community-celebrated moment. He felt incredibly honoured to have been accepted by the family into such an incredibly special life-defining moment. 

His obstetric practice developed from training at the largest hospital networks in New South Wales and Victoria managing many complex pregnancies.

His passion for gynaecology came later when he trained with renowned surgeons who were leaders in their fields in New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, and internationally in Europe and Asia. At that stage, he dreamed of being able to offer the same surgical expertise to his own patients. 

Through his special interest in early pregnancy miscarriages, and ectopic pregnancies Dr Alex met many couples struggling with fertility issues. He has partnered with Demeter Fertility to be able to offer comprehensive management from preconception, through pregnancy, to birth and beyond.

Dr Alex hopes to not only provide excellent obstetric, gynaecological, and fertility care. He also wants to ensure that his patients are involved in each step of their care and understands the reasoning behind their management.
