Specialty Fertility Treatments in Sydney

Specialty fertility treatments are for patients whose situation does not fit a standard IVF pathway, whether because of low AMH, age, repeated implantation failure or a poor response to previous stimulation. At Demeter Fertility that includes ovarian rejuvenation using platelet rich plasma, our Over 40s Fertility Program, personalised low AMH protocols, DuoStim double stimulation, recurrent implantation failure investigation, immune therapy, MTHFR support and integrated naturopathy and acupuncture. Many of our patients arrive after being turned away by another clinic, or after being told that donor eggs are their only remaining option. We have no age limit and no BMI restriction, we performed Australia’s first intraovarian PRP procedure in 2017, and every plan starts with a comprehensive assessment and an honest view of your prospects before you commit to anything.

What are specialty fertility treatments?

Standard IVF works well for a large proportion of patients. These treatments exist for everyone else. They are the protocols, procedures and diagnostics used when the standard pathway has not worked, or is unlikely to work first time.

The common thread is investigation before treatment. Repeating the same IVF cycle and hoping for a different outcome is not a strategy. We find out what is actually happening first, then choose the treatment that addresses it.

Ovarian Rejuvenation

Demeter Fertility performed the first intraovarian PRP procedure in Australia in 2017 and Dr. Knight has completed hundreds since. Platelet rich plasma, prepared from your own blood, is injected into the ovaries under ultrasound guidance to support follicle development. A 2024 systematic review of 38 studies reported significant improvements in the fertility parameters of women with diminished ovarian reserve. It is an emerging treatment and suitability is assessed individually.

IVF for women over 40

Egg quantity and quality both decline with age, and after 40 the margin for error narrows. That does not justify the age cut offs some clinics apply. Our program combines early diagnostics, protocols selected for lower responders, ovarian rejuvenation where appropriate, DuoStim where time is short and PGT testing where your medical history suggests it would be necessary. We accept patients other clinics have declined.

Treating low AMH and diminished ovarian reserve

Age is a key factor in fertility. While it’s well known that egg quantity and quality decline with age, becoming pregnant in your 40s is still possible – especially with the right medical support.

Our clinic offers advanced protocols, thorough diagnostics and ovarian rejuvenation to improve outcomes for women over 40 seeking IVF.

We also offer early and detailed fertility assessments, so we can tailor your IVF treatment plan from the very beginning.

Recurrent implantation failure (RIF) support

Repeated failed transfers, particularly when you have been told that everything looks fine, are among the most investigable problems in fertility treatment. Our work includes endometrial receptivity analysis, immune testing, hysteroscopy, clotting investigation and a review of modifiable factors, so that a cause can be identified and targeted.

DuoStim double stimulation

Two stimulation phases and two egg collections within a single menstrual cycle, using both the follicular and luteal phases. For patients with low ovarian reserve or limited time, it accumulates embryos faster than waiting a full cycle between attempts.

Some have been told they are too old, that their AMH is too low, or that their BMI disqualifies them. Changing clinics is straightforward, your records transfer, and a second opinion costs you a consultation rather than another full cycle. Read about changing IVF clinics

FAQs Specialty Fertility Treatments in Sydney

Specialty fertility treatments are protocols and procedures used when standard IVF is not appropriate or has not worked. They include ovarian rejuvenation, tailored low AMH stimulation protocols, DuoStim double stimulation, recurrent implantation failure investigation, immune therapy and PGT testing.

Advanced IVF treatment refers to the diagnostics and protocols used for complex cases, including patients with diminished ovarian reserve, patients over 40, poor responders and those with repeated implantation failure. It typically involves more investigation before treatment and a protocol built around the individual rather than a standard template.

Yes. Demeter Fertility has no age limit and no BMI restriction, and a significant proportion of our patients come to us after being declined or discharged elsewhere. We assess every patient individually.

Yes. Second opinions are one of the most common reasons patients contact us. We will review your history and previous cycles and give you our honest view, whether or not that means recommending treatment with us.

Ovarian rejuvenation using intraovarian PRP is the clearest example, having been introduced to Australia at Demeter Fertility in 2017. DuoStim double stimulation and our dedicated Over 40s Fertility Program are also offered by relatively few Australian clinics.

Through a comprehensive assessment. Your specialist reviews your history, previous cycles and current test results before recommending anything. There is no single treatment that suits every complex case.

Costs vary depending on the treatments involved and what Medicare rebates apply to the IVF component. We provide an individual quote after your assessment.

Demeter Fertility consults at Hurstville, Wahroonga, Liverpool and Westmead. Initial consultations are available by telehealth for interstate and New Zealand patients.
