How double stimulation IVF works
A conventional cycle stimulates once, in the follicular phase, collects eggs, then waits for your next period before anything else can happen. That waiting is dead time.
DuoStim uses the fact that a second group of follicles can be recruited in the luteal phase, after the first collection. So the sequence runs: stimulate, collect, a short recovery, stimulate again, collect again. Two egg retrievals, one menstrual cycle.
This luteal stimulation phase is what makes the protocol distinctive, and it is also what makes it demanding. It requires careful timing, close monitoring and more decision points than a standard cycle.

Double stimulation IVF for low ovarian reserve
If you have low AMH or a low antral follicle count, each collection yields few eggs. Accumulating enough to work with can take several cycles, and several cycles takes months.
The protocol addresses the arithmetic rather than the underlying reserve. It does not increase what your ovaries are capable of. It gets you two attempts in the time a standard approach gives you one.
The goal remains one good egg rather than a bigger number. Three eggs with one chromosomally normal embryo is a better result than nine without. DuoStim simply gives you more chances to find that one within a usable timeframe.
