Demeter Fertility, renowned as the “patient-first” IVF clinic, serves as the intersection of Dr David Knight’s dedication to exceptional care and his vast expertise, cultivated through years of groundbreaking research. As a trailblazer in the field, Dr. Knight has achieved numerous milestones, including overseeing the birth of Australia’s first child through luteal stimulation and multiCOS (controlled ovarian stimulation) cycles, a pioneering technique allowing multiple egg collections in a single month.

Dr. Knight’s educational journey commenced with medical training at the University of Western Australia, followed by his internship and junior medical training at Royal Perth Hospital. His early career aspirations oscillated between obstetrics and cardiothoracic surgery, but his passion for women’s health ultimately led him to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, beginning his training at the King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women in Perth. Further specialized training occurred at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne and culminated at St George Hospital in Sydney, where he completed both reproductive medicine subspecialty training and a research Doctorate at the University of NSW, centered at the Royal Hospital for Women in Paddington. This pioneering research delved into the effects of plant hormones on children and women at various stages of their reproductive journeys.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Knight has contributed significantly to fertility research, publishing numerous papers in prestigious international journals and frequently addressing audiences at national and international conferences. His outstanding contributions earned him the prestigious Fertility Society of Australia Research Medal in 2000.

Dr. Knight’s legacy extends beyond research; he has pioneered innovative IVF techniques such as Mild Ovarian Stimulation, Inovium Ovarian Rejuvenation, and the application of somatotropin in women with ovarian resistance. Dr. Knight has also spearheaded fertility research tailored to women over 40, introducing the world’s first IVF Over 40s Program, building upon his three decades of work concerning diet, supplements, and their impacts on human reproduction.

Dr. Knight embarked on his journey in IVF and fertility treatment in 1995, commencing at City West IVF. By 1998, he assumed the role of Clinical Director, overseeing monitoring procedures at City West IVF and later at IVF Australia Western Sydney. This period also marked his pursuit of further education, culminating in a Masters in Reproductive Medicine and a subsequent position as a lecturer in Reproductive Medicine at the University of Western Sydney.

In 2004, Dr. Knight founded Next Generation Fertility, a venture that flourished into a major patient referral centre. Driven by his commitment to thought leadership and best practice processes, he ventured out in 2009, establishing Demeter Fertility. Simultaneously, he resumed his obstetric practice, relishing the opportunity to care for patients whom he had previously helped conceive through fertility treatments.

Dr. Knight’s unwavering commitment is to prioritize patient-centric care above all else. Throughout his illustrious career, he has consistently demonstrated a deep passion for ensuring each patient’s well-being, focusing on their unique needs and concerns. His dedication to compassionate, personalised care has earned him a reputation as a trusted and empathetic healthcare provider, making him a beacon of hope for those on their fertility journeys.
